How safe is anesthesia for my pet?

Anesthesia is essential for all surgical procedures; without it, your pet would not be able to withstand the surgery. We perform tests to ensure that your pet is in good health and will respond well to anesthesia. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is the first step to performing surgery. From your pet’s bloodwork, we can determine the safe dosage of anesthesia for your pet and assess the state of their organs. Your pet’s bloodwork will show the functionality of their liver and kidney, which is essential as these organs metabolize and excrete the medication. Any issues that may interfere with the anesthesia will be detected through the tests that we perform.

What will recovery look like for my pet?

Recovery will vary based on the surgery that your pet had. Once we’ve completed a procedure, our team will monitor your pet until they wake up from anesthesia. We prescribe pain medications to ensure your pet is comfortable while recovering. Our veterinarians will provide more specific details for your pet’s recovery journey.
