How do I know my pet is overweight?

As your pet’s guardian, you’ll notice when they’ve gained a few extra pounds; however, it’s hard to determine if they are overweight or obese. If your pet has gotten wider or rounder in the belly, you should consult with a veterinarian. The doctor can weigh your pet and identify their ideal weight based on their breed and age. If your pet’s weight is less than 20% over their ideal weight, then they are overweight. Anything more than 20% is considered obese.
